Woodcuts and objects of wood
Astrology was developed about 4000 years ago in Mesopotamia. It was at the height between 100 BC and 600 AD, centered in Egypt and Greece, and was an instrument for predicting events and making decisions, in everything from marriage to politics.
Until the 19th century, an astronomer and scientist was most often also an astrologer. Today, astrology is considered pseudoscience.
A horoscope is an astrological map, pointing out where the sun, moon and the planets was positioned in the creation of an event or person. The planets represent archetypes. How they are placed, says something about the outcome the event or person will have in their lifetime.
In the exhibition, I show woodcuts and objects that visualize astrological concepts used in the interpretation of horoscopes.
